Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common subtype of renal cancer, has a
poor clinical outcome. A hallmark of ccRCC is genetic loss-of-function of VHL (von Hippel–
Lindau) that leads to a highly vascularized tumor microenvironment. Although many ccRCC
