Background A number of cAMP-elevating hormones stimulate phosphorylation (and hence
activity) of the NaCl cotransporter (NCC) in the distal convoluted tubule (DCT). Evidence
suggests that protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) and other protein phosphatases modulate NCC
